Supplementary Schools enhance the learning experiences of young people through the provision of out of school hours activities. Supplementary education services are available throughout Northamptonshire. Classes can take place after school finishes on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

WELCOME FROM THE CHAIR
Thank you for visiting our new website. I am delighted to welcome you to the Association of Northamptonshire Supplementary Schools on behalf of all our staff.
Supplementary schools are community based schools that endeavour to keep language and culture alive. We are the umbrella organisation for 18 supplementary schools in Northamptonshire. In Northampton members include the Arabic, Chinese, Ghanaian, Greek, Gujarati, Latvian, Polish, Punjabi, Russian and Tamil schools. In Wellingborough there are Gujarati, African Caribbean and Polish schools. In Kettering we have a Polish school and our centre in Corby comprises Polish, Serbian, Lithuanian and Latvian supplementary schools. It is our aim to enhance the 'life chances' of children by increasing their confidence and self-esteem. |
The academic year has been a very busy year for us. We continue to deliver the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education Quality Assurance Framework, with the target for all schools to achieve the 'Bronze Award'. 17 schools have currently achieved this level, so far. 2 schools achieved the Silver Award this year, bringing our total up to 7 with the 'silver award'. We offered training courses in First Aid, integrating children with special education needs and disabilities and Effective Teaching.
I look forward to working with you to ensure that together we achieve 'the best in everyone', to raise awareness of supplementary schools and to form a cohesive link between mainstream schools, supplementary schools, ethnic communities and the ANSS.
